Results of Laser Surgery for Allergic Rhinitis

Abstract

|
The inferior turbinates of 40 patients with allergic rhinitis were vaporized by Nd: YAG and defocused carbon dioxide(CO2) laser beam, using specially designed handpieces. This laser surgery can be done under local anesthesia, with no pain or
bleeding.
It offers the advantages of excellent hemostasis, excellent healing, minimal discomfort and minimal complication. Although assessment of subjective findings is difficult, the results of this study with laser surgery are in no way inferior to
those
obtained by various surgical procedure. With regard to adverse effects and patient discomfort, laser surgery has advantages over other surgical procedures.
